Since 1988, John White has owned and managed White
Jewelers. However, White Jewelers is a second generation store
that has been manufacturing jewelry since 1950. Henry
White, founder of White Jewelers, graduated from Jewelry, Gemological and Watch
Repair schools. He and his brother Jack worked in a jewelry trade shop
until 1950, when they opened their own shop.
In 1970, Henry and his wife Mary opened their first retail
jewelry store in downtown York at 33 West Market Street. They remained
there unitl 1984. A second store was added in 1980 at Queensgate Shopping
Center and remained in operation until 2003, when the store moved to its
current location at 204 St. Charles Way.
We own this location and hope to spend the next twenty years
here. The store was Layed out and and planned by John and Steve. Rod
Lockard of Shermeyer & Associates Architects designed it. Keystruct
Construction build it. Jim Hill of Hill Woodworks handmade the show cases and
wood work.
